Quinta Sanradela farms over 12 hectares of olive groves that are grown traditionally, without irrigation or harmful chemicals. Although we have two years remaining in our process towards official EU organic certification, we’ve farmed the groves organically since acquiring the Quinta six years ago. They sit atop the vineyards, near the highest point of the hill, uncompromised by runoff pollution from neighboring properties.
Each tree in our groves is hand pruned, and all of the fruit is harvested manually each November using olive shakers to avoid damaging the trees. The fruit is then immediately cold-pressed that very afternoon, allowing us to preserve its freshness while extracting the purest unfiltered olive oil possible; with only 0.2% acidity and all the aromas and flavors of the Douro Valley. After the extraction the olive oil is stored in stainless steel tanks until it’s bottled. Bottling and labeling take place at Quinta Sanradela.
Though you will find an assortment of varieties throughout our olive groves and vineyards, our Quinta Sanradela Extra Virgin Olive Oil is primarily made up of Galega, Madural, Verdeal, Cordovil and Cobrancosa. The trees vary between 20 and 120 years old, the eldest of which produce fruit of unusual intensity.

Our olive is a delicious accompaniment for salads, marinades, grilled meats and fish. Or you can to choose to enjoy it like the Portuguese have for generations — drizzled on a plate and soaked up with a freshly baked piece of bread.
